Some examples of our working are:
to close or to open the mouth-piece;
to extend or to shorten the plane of the table;
to choose the shape of the profile between the point of contact of the table and the end of the tip aperture;
to lower the roof (or palate) of the mouth-piece.
You can compare the diagrams of the Fourier Transform of two emitted tone, one obtained by a mouth-piece of ebonite of elevated commercial grade and the other by our crystal mouth-piece.in cristallo di nostra produzione.

On
the Graph 1 it is possible to observe a rapid decay of sound intensity of high frequency harmonics, caused probably by a non symmetrical oscillation of the reed which induces distortions producing much pronounced damping in intensity as the frequency increases. During the industrial production process, melting end quenching will induce thermal tensions that will emerge after subsequent mechanical working producing slight asymmetry in mouthpiece profile.
On the Graph 2 is possible to observe a large richness of harmonics that extent even in very high frequency range beyond 20 KHz still maintaining a correct proportion between multiples of the thirds and fifths which are the sustaining structure to project sound intensity all over the more deepness of the hearing hall. This characteristic comes from the perfectly balanced vibration of the reed that closes and rebounds over a mouthpiece profile calibrated and refinished by a mild hand-lapping oriented to smooth any distortion in the reed vibration.
